Hidden Valley Falls Kayak and Hike
The Outfitters Kauai Kayak Tour on the Hule’ia River is one Kauai Tour that you and your family or friends will never forget! The Hule’ia River is a gorgeous, historic jungle waterway that was used as a filming location for “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” During the Outfitters Kauai Kayak Tour, the group will paddle their tandem kayaks into the middle of the jungle. You’ll tie your kayaks to a tree at a shallow spot of the river and hike ¾ mile to a mystical area of swimming holes and waterfalls. For the return trip, you’ll be picked up in a twin-hulled powered canoe.
This Kauai Tour is a pleasant downwind Kauai kayak paddle that is approximately two miles long. You’ll enjoy Kauai Kayaking through the Hule'ia National Wildlife Refuge, an organization that strives for the conservation of rare Hawaiian water birds. You'll paddle past the Alekoko Fishpond, a living example of the way that the ancients fished and performed agricultural necessities that’s still used to this day. The majestic Haupu Mountain Range will act as your backdrop, and you’re sure to fall in love with the enchanting atmosphere that the dramatic 2000 foot shield volcano makes looming over the river. Your final destination is Hidden Falls, a series of three waterfalls complete with a charming swimming hole. The region is full of myths and legends, and your Kauai Tour guide will share with you all of the adventurous stories about supernatural residents of the valleys in times passed. Possibly due to its scenic nature, Hule’ia has been a filming location for several films including “Jurassic Park,” “Lost World,” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
After Kauai Kayaking, you will leave behind your kayak and go on a 1.5 mile round trip trek through an unspoiled tropical rainforest that is home to a wide variety of birds, plants and aquatic life. Along the way, the group will stop at swimming holes to take advantage of the rope swings until you reach your destination: Hidden Valley Falls. As you enjoy cold drinks and snacks, you and your group will undoubtedly enjoy absorbing the sights of the charming series of pool-drop waterfalls gushing over black lava rock. Then it’s back down to the river for an exciting journey back to your starting point.
